2008 Oregon Junior Open Denker Tournament of High School Champions Qualifier May 31, 2008 Alpha School, Gresham, OR Sponsored by the Oregon Chess Federation Open: To all Oregon junior players, elementary school, middle school or high school. Eligibility for Denker Tournament of High School Champions representative: Participants must meet the residency requirements stated in the OCF Bylaws. A person is considered an Oregon resident if s/he has lived in Oregon from September 1, 2007 until the end of the tournament. The representative must meet Denker qualifying requirements. No player who has played in another state’s Denker Qualifier is eligible to participate. He or she must attend high school in Oregon or be registered in an Oregon Educational Service District if home schooled. Participants must be under the age of 19 as of September 1, 2008. Format: Four rounds, G/70 time control. Format may be reduced to 3 rounds, G/90, depending on the number of registrants or other similar format based on TD discretion. Dual-Rated in NWSRS and USCF. USCF and OCF membership required. Pairings will be based on the USCF May supplement list. No pre-arranged byes will be given. Schedule: Check-in from 8:00-8:30, rounds at 8:45, 11:15, 1:30 and ASAP. Awards at approximately 6:30. Tie-breaks: Ties for first and ties for Denker representative will be broken with a single round of G/30 with a random color draw. If a tie still remains after the game, additional rounds of G/5 blitz will determine the winner. Other tie-breaks will be determined by computer. Computer tie-break methods will be announced before the first round. Entry Fee: $25.00 entry fee due by May 28th. 100% PRE-REGISTRATION. No on site registration will be considered. Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top four finishers. The highest finishing eligible player will be awarded the Denker representative spot. The Denker representative will receive a small travel stipend for the Denker Tournament of High School Champions. Location: Alpha School is at 876 N.E. 8th St., in Gresham. Questions?
